Capture An Image Of Your Desktop

Windows has always had ways to capture an image of your desktop (with the PrintScreen key) or just the active window (Alt+PrintScreen). These images can be pasted into an email, Word document, or image editor and then sent or saved.

Windows Vista has expanded on that capability with the Snipping Tool, located in Start->All Programs->Accessories. With it, you can snip a portion of the screen, or part of a Web site, document, picture, or error message, and save it as an image file. Keep it handy by right-clicking the icon and choosing Pin to Start Menu or Add to Quick Launch.
