Just what is a Netbook?
As this gift-giving season approaches, my children have been making numerous drafts of their “wish list”, diligently working towards a final copy. I have had the chance to see a few of these rough drafts and each one seems surprisingly different from the other. There is however, one item that was written down on every list I read through. This gift was a netbook. What exactly is a netbook?
A netbook is a small, light, less expensive laptop computer. Netbooks might look like laptops but they don’t have the full capabilities of a computer. Instead, they are considered more of a mobile device and are used to access the Internet while on the go. Most netbook screen sizes range from 8 to 12 inches. They weigh around 2.5 pounds and can be purchased with 512MB to 2GB of memory. Netbooks have build-in Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB ports and slots for flash memory cards. To keep the devices small and compact, netbooks do not have a CD or DVD drive.
Netbooks are ideal for individuals that travel as a backup to their full size computer. There are many different netbook manufacturers. Some of the most popular makes and models are listed below:
- Dell Mini 10
- Acer Aspire AS1410
- Asus Eee PC
- MSI Wind
- HP Mini 110
No matter which netbook you choose, you will be amazed at their size, functionality and performance. To learn more about netbooks, we invite you to call us at 682-4990 or Email Us.
